ARI / ETS Research Project: Development Assessment of Cross-Cultural Competence

Princeton, N.J.  At September 24, 2012 the Educational Testing Service (ETS) of Princeton, N.J. entered into a subcontract agreement with CogniMetrics, Inc. to provide services to ETS for an Army Research Institute (ARI) project for the development of an assessment of cross-cultural competence (3Cs).  The ARI / ETS project is expected to take three years to completion.

Early Assessment of College Readiness

San Antonio, TX, February 1, 2012.  CogniMetrics, Inc., leading innovator in intelligence testing, today announced the completion of a study into the utility of the I.T. Aptitude Battery (ITAB) for prediction of school achievements and early assessment of college readiness.

The study was done with a sample of middle school children in a Southern state for whom the ACT EXPLORE scores (English, Reading, Math, Science and a Composite score) were also available. The predictive relationships were very substantial and free of ethnic test bias.

Selection tests for Remotely Piloted Aircraft (RPA) operators

Randolph AFB, TX.  December 1, 2011.  CogniMetrics, Inc.  was awarded a R&D contract as a first step to the development of interactive tests for the selection of Remotely Piloted Aircraft (RPA) operators.   Dr. Ippel, CEO of CogniMetrics, Inc. was quite happy with the new contract.  “The RPA systems are presently the most important weapon of the U.S. Air Force.  Although it is a relatively small contract, it is supposed to be a first step in the direction of the development of a next generation of interactive selection tests for the U.S. Air Force.  We see it as recognition of the breakthrough we achieved with our I.T. Aptitude Battery, which was the first battery of completely interactive tests of human intelligence.  This interactivity was achieved using Artificial Intelligence techniques.”

Office of Naval Research (ONR) Grant (Part II)

Washington, DC.  June 28, 2010, the Office of Naval Research (ONR) has awarded CogniMetrics Inc. a grant (category: basic research) for a research proposal entitled "Criterion Scores Development For the Navy Apprentice Technical Training Program" (contract nr. N00014-10-C-0505).  The project addresses two critical issues for the functioning of a Personnel Selection and Classification System: (1) can technical knowledge and technical skills be measured separately, and, if so (2) can we predict these different knowledge aspects with different predictor variables?  The project will test specific hypotheses about the role of crystallized and fluid intelligence and working memory in the acquisition of technical knowledge.

Air Force Research Project

Randolph AFB, TX. Friday, June 4, 2010, CogniMetrics Inc. was awarded a research contract in the Scientific Services Program of the Air Force (contract nr. SSP TCN 10-129). The project involves an investigation of the utility of the ASVAB for classification decisions of incoming Air Force recruits. The project is planned to take 5 months and will be monitored by the Air Force Personnel Center at Randolph AFB, TX.

Office of Naval Research (ONR) Grant (Part I)

Washington March 11, 2010.  The Office of Naval Research awarded CogniMetrics Inc. a grant to develop criterion scores for the Navy’s Apprenticeship Technical Training (ATT) program (contract nr. N00014-10-M-0087).  Criterion development and the measurement of individual performance are generally considered critical for the evaluation of the utility and efficiency of a Personnel Selection & Classification system.  Training data often pose a fundamental problem for PS&C systems in that training performance tests seldom are designed to discriminate competence levels beyond the minimum requirements.  This is, in particular, the case with computer-based training systems such as the ATT program.  CogniMetrics Inc. got the award for an innovative idea of measuring criterion performance.
